Quietude Mandolin (Quietude Jubilee Kingdom x Quietude Madrid) was the only Morgan at the show! As always, she attracted many admirers for her striking beauty and good gaits. She earned a fine score of 66+ and second place in her Training 2 class. CRITERION
Foaled fifty years ago Criterion is a grandson of Jubilee King.

I wanted to tell you about Marco today. I got him out after lunch and was headed down the road and ran into neighbors that are big Marco fans. Someone let a dog out – a Corgi – and it made a beeline for Marco, at which point he lowered his head in acknowledgement. Then the dog stood up on its hind legs and put its paws up on Marco’s shoulder -!! My heart was in my mouth but Marco stood like a statue looking straight ahead with ears up. Ditto for when the dog decided that Marco needed some encouragement to play so it started barking and running around his hind legs. God I love that horse.He really is gracious to little animals and kids – he always takes a Polite Interest but no more. By the way the farrier was out for the 8-wkeek trim and pronounced Marco’s feet “perfect”.He said he wished all his clients horses had feet like that. I have never yet put shoes on MP.
The filly (Quietude Noelle) is doing great. She is getting a bit more work now and has slimmed down slightly. I was calling her “Plumpynut” after that peanutbutter paste they give kids in Africa. Anyways she is peanutbutter-colored! She has pretty much perfected her Mare Glare, which she alternates with gazes of melting limpidity. Rachel is doing well with her and I told her that she can take Noelle to a show in the spring if she wants. ~MARY BOOTH MA~

Susan, our wonderful memories of visiting Quietude have brought many a smile to my daughter Heather and I over the years. We acquired Pristina's Diana Redwood one of the last of your Quietude Redwood babies. When we brought her home she was 17 months old and we waited for her 2nd year to introduce her to the saddle. What was amazing is she was always curious and wanted to know what was next. She never flinched or shied but said ok and took everything in stride. She was the only Morgan on a Saddlebred farm where we boarded her. The Saddlebreds would always be fractious but no matter what it was Tina investigated and then went back to what ever she was doing.
On my first visit to Quietude you and Shannon took me out to the yearling pasture. As we met with the babies they all settled to sniff who we were. You and Shannon were walking ahead of me and I stopped as two foals were nuzzling my neck and two were pushing through my arms. I remember Shannon's comment, "Look she is not afraid." I was in deck tennis shoes and I remember the babies were all friendly, but they did not jostle me. I felt so privileged and frankly in seventh heaven - I keep remembering the feeling of awe. It always seemed when I read about your horses it was how they treated people when they came into their environment. Always so gentle, always quiet until we safely left their environment and off they went behaving as horses should. That is what sold me on finding a Lambert or blood horse I could afford for my daughter.
All the way back to Virginia Heather and I were blown away and she has mentioned many a time how she'd like to come out again. Thank you so much for preserving this special line. Each testimony I know is factual just from my brief experience. I just happened tonight to visit again and thought to write. Thank you for giving us the most special memory that Heather and I have smiled over for years.

he could care less.......

QUIETUDE HORIZON (Calcutta of Quietude x Quietude Chantry)
Horizon is doing great. I am bringing him on slowly and he has done everything I have asked.
I am always amazed at how smart he is. I do think Horizon is smarter than other Morgans, but I am prejudiced. After all he is my baby. We have done a good bit of trail riding with him and he remembers all the trails after one trip. He is to do his second competitive trail ride this October. I will let you know how he does. He aced his first ride. I couldn't be more pleased with him. I want to offer my sympathy on Calcutta's passing.
He certainly produced a great horse for me to enjoy!
